Another month, another handfull of happenings at ZIP…

PageLines- startupisland_1000x360.pngBut first, you probably heard already, but since the early bird tickets are here just for a couple more days, it bears mentioning we recently announced one of our biggest projects this year - a regional startup conference named Startup Island.

Its taking place from 13th to 16th of June in the town of Hvar and it will gather all the leaders of the startup community from the vast region of “New Europe“ - from Finland and the Baltics to Turkey, from Austria to Russia. More info here.

Success and turmoil of Mentor Showcase on 10th of April

The second genereation of ZIP teams have had their first ZIP mentoring session. Our mentors gave them the necessary feedback about their ideas and business models. Following this every team had the opportunity to choose one mentor to guide them on their specific path and needs through their pre-incubation period.
Spring school of entrepreneurship visited ZIP!

An interactive presentation about startup concept in general and opportunities of employment and growth that come from it, presented by Saša Cvetojević and Nikola Devčić, for a group of unemployed young people in the context of the spring entrepreneurship school for encouraging youth activity in the local community.

Delegation from Polytechnic School VERN visited ZIP!

On April 12th another group of students, this time from VERN, business economy department, were presented by Saša Cvetojević and Mihovil Barančić a lecture about the purpose, experience and the potential future of ZIP in the light of rudimentary startup ecosystem on the local market and its therefore necessary global business orientation.

Did we learn from Israel?

One of the senior partners in one of the largest risk-capital funds that finance startup entrepreneurship in Israel and one of the chief advisors of the Israeli government on that issue, dr. Eli Opper visited us on April 19th. He pinpointed the differences of the structure and management in both Israel and Croatia startup ecosystems, especially in the intensive cooperation of the Israeli IT-industry and domestic startups, and provided precious feedback on those startup ideas that were presented to him at ZIP.Events.
